Well I went out hunting on a small pond I heard had perch. Started off beeing shallow but at 4 fow got some lite hits and landed my first perch.

This went on for a while moving and drilling and landing these "monsters".

It was a challenge to catch these little guys and to see either the line move or my ultra lite's tip quiver. Figured it was good practice.
Learned another thing that i had read would work and actually does. I you put a little water down on the ice and then (I have a bottomline fishin buddy) put the transducer down in that film of water, it will shoot thru the ice and read the depth. Saves on drillin holes.
So after cruzin around drillin and catchin the last hole at dark over 5' fow I started getting those lite taps but this one ended up being a little bigger.

A nice 12" and when cleaned had eggs and the remains of one of those kids I had been catchin earlier.
Worked that hole for a while and as I had read that some fish start biting at dusk that was true as well.

I landed 2 of these "palm pilots" otherwise know as bluegill. My first thru the ice. They tug more than the little perch do.
A good late afternoon and evening fishing exploring a pond, moving around checking it out. I will need to float this when the ice clears and mark some structure. I need a GPS to find it's way into my hands.
