my wife and i are going to fish lake the first part of feb. for the first time. Was wondering whats some of the do's and dont's.I think i have 6 pound test on my ice poles. think that would be suffice for most catches? also what jigs/tubes would you reccomend? also another general question i have is..does crawfish smelly jelly work at all bodies of water or just at places that have the crawdads like berry, east canyon, lost creek,etc.Thank-you all in advance.

first leve the crawfish smelly jelly home.. get some new line on your pole.. 6, 8, 10 lb will work.. some pearl tube jig's 1 to 3 inch.. some perch meat and you will be set for most all the fish ya want to catch at fishlake.. a do get out and catch some fish.. don'ts dont go through the ice.. [crazy]..

read some of the other post's here on the site there's lot of good info here on fish-lake.

Hey thanks Fuzzy. Thanks for the info. got another silly ? for ya. can ya buy perch meat anywhere to get started? or do ya just hope to catch a perch to hack up?Any other baits good to have? (mealies, night crawler, etc.)

well no ya can't buy perch meat anywhere for bait.. a lot of the time ya can find them out on the ice there at fish lake.. or get some worms and get in about 25 to 35 feet of water and fish for the perch.. most the time they are not to hard to come by.. take some chub minnows with ya and some red side shiners.. you can get them at sportsmens.. some guy's use mealies, waxies. as well but i have found perch and chub to be about the best bait out there inless your lucky and hook up with a sucker then ya got gold.. Took two grandsons (both5) and two sons in law and a son to Fish lake on Saturday. Must have been 400 people on the lake. Tons and tons of 8 to 9 inch perch. a very few 10 or 11 inchers. Also plenty of 12 to 16 inch splake. all on the weed line. Tried out further (up to 85 feet) with 8 or 10 holes but could mark any fish on flashers nor get any action. So played with the little perch with grandkids. They both caught about 10 or 15 each all by themselves and were very happy.

Brought about 50 home and cleaned them using the how to clean a perch in 10 second video (on you tube). Takes about 1 to 2 minutes each actually. Had a great fish fry with them yesterday. They are really very good (better than any trout).

Was there this saturday with my step son, cought a few perch just out of the weed line in about 8 to 10 feet of water. went out a bit further, water was at about 40 feet started catching trout and a few splake at about 15 to 20 feet deep.was using a white jig with a crawler. there was a whole lot of people out, weather was great and good ice, about 4 to 6 inches of snow on top. pics coming later.

hey cool...[cool]. Sounds like fun. I can't wait to go. How far out from shore would you say the weedline is? [fishon]

not sure how far out it is but you will be able to tell when you get there, alot of people will be set up there. at least 200 yards or more straight out from the boat dock.
catch a few perch and cut up the meat for trout that are in deeper water. you can still catch a few with plain night crawlers or meal worms and jigs with crawlers.
have fun and be safe.
