Basically im looking for a good new fishing spot. A few years ago, me and a bunch of friends went fishing... had a blast, but didnt even get a nibble (Bad spot).
We all live in the Kansas City area, willing to drive a hour or two if the spot was good... the things that are critical to me are basically this...
1) Good fishing (or atleast decent, with 8 lines in the water down the bank, id hope for a few bites
2) Need to be able to put up a decent size camp fire and some tents and stay the night without problem. We all have trucks, so a little offroad is fine if it gets us away from the high traffic areas!
Any suggestions?

Isn't there a a pretty big river that runs through KC? What about Perry Lake, west of town? According to the maps, there are lots of places to camp and fish in Southwest Missouri. Here's what I'd do...approach some landowners along the Missouri River way north of the city and ask for permission to fish the river. If you catch some fish to eat give it to the landowners. You might strike it rich with some good fishing and make friends in the process. But don't ruin it with beer cans and other garbage left behind.

Hmm, yeah... the Missouri. Dont hear a whole lot of people fishing out of it though.
So far the idea iv come up with is to go down south, looks like there is a HUGE body of water around Clinton (Appears to have a ton of names), also from the info iv found, has a bunch of different fish. Ontop of that, a ton of shore running around it... to the point where im guessing you could probably put over 100 people around it and never see anyone.
I like the idea though, im just trying to figure how to find out who owns what?

My family and I are originally from KC. Stick to fishing ponds, lakes and reservoirs. I doubt any small streams are worth the trouble. If you're looking for small streams you need to get out of Dodge ( or KC ). Closest would be the Ozarks. I did live in SW Mo for 6 years. Lots of rednecks (fairly nice ones[laugh]) but not quite the banjo land of 50 years ago. Probable at least 3-4 hour drive. Of course your other option is to fly somewhere worth fishing out West. Just stick with the Ozarks as you won't mind going back to KC so much.

I would kill for something like this. All I have out in southern california (city life) are commercial fishing and boating lakes.
Maybe it isn't the location? Maybe it is the target fish and bait/skills?
streams are always littered with fun small fishing.
