If you can find the number to the gas and grub at the bottom of current creek canyon. They will be able to tell you if the grader has made it up there or not. He grades right to the dam and then it is to you to get down on the ice from there. Hope this helps.

It has been plowed every time I've been up there this year.

thanks for the reply. i seen a picture from last year someone posted it showes them driving right up to the gate at the dam. and a rocky bank down to the ice. is there usually enough snow up there to drive a snowmobile down that rocky bank or do you just have to hoof it down there.

They plow up to the dam in the years I have been there. I would be concerned on how much snow on the ice and how much slush beneath the snow. Anyone know that?

good point i didn't think about the snow slushy. i figured it would be cold enough the slush would stay away up there.

The slush was bad the first time I went up about a month ago but the next weekend the slush had frozen up and it wasn't too bad. I'm not sure what the latest storms have done. The drop off the dam would be hard on the snow machine because the big rocks are usually showing. If you can get across the dam there is a trail that will drop you off below the campground.

thanks but how do i get across the dam? from the pic i've seen there is a gate that is probably locked.

There is a gate across but I think you might be able to go around up on the hill to the north or below to the south. There is another road down to the lake on the east side a mile or so past the dam on the main road that snowmobiles often take.

For snowmobile access you'll have to go around to the north end of the lake. Its a few miles past the dam since the road winds around so much, and usually that section is plowed as well. But CC really is not that big of a lake. You can walk from the dam to the north end in about 15 minutes.

i was out there 2 weeks ago not alot of snow but you can proabably drive over that gate now we had to ride the snowmobiles all the way around the lake but i would definatley take a snowmobile cuz it will be slushy strawberry today had about 5inches of slush. we used white or green paddle bugs with wax worms 2 weeks ago up there and did really well [fishin]
