The Louisiana Oyster Task Force (LOTF) will meet at 1 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 1 in suite 200 of the University of New Orleans Advanced Technology Center located at 2021 Lakeshore Dr. in New Orleans.

1. A new law that would say that natural, raw oysters harvested within the state shall be allowed to be sold and consumed raw within the state.
2. Repeal 56:435.1 and open Sabine Lake to all types of vessels on the first Wednesday after Labor Day through April 1.
3. Repeal 56:433 seed harvest only on the first Wednesday after Labor Day through the second Monday in October and revert to old law opening public oyster reefs for all harvest on the first Wednesday after Labor Day.
4. Amend 40:5.3.1 to say in Department of Health and Hospitals (DHH) in consultation with LDWF and LOTF, "shall notify all licensed oyster harvesters and dealers" that they may apply for an exemption from the V.p. and V.v guidelines in the NSSP if they have not been epidemiologically linked to a V.p. or V.v. illness.
5. Amend 56:303.4 & 56:303.7 requiring that the commercial "oyster" fisherman instead of the wholesale retail seafood dealer send the trip ticket information to the LDWF because the dealer cannot attest to the fact where the fisherman caught the oysters or the duration of his trip.
6. RS 56:431.1 - Devices to protect oysters from predation; use on leased acreage. SUNSETS - We need to allow this activity after 1/1/2011. The provisions of this Section shall become null and void and of no effect on Jan. 1, 2011 and no permit shall be issued which would allow use after that date nor shall any device authorized under the provisions of this section be used after that date.
7. RS 56:436 - Amend to allow for early morning harvest between April 1 and Oct. 31 with a permit for the purpose of harvesting longer than two hours as set by oyster management guidelines.
8. Lift Oyster Leasing Moratorium - (PPOG Committee)<br />

OYSTER TASK FORCE RESEARCH COMMITTEE TO MEET THURSDAY, FEB. 4
The Research Committee of the Louisiana Oyster Task Force will meet at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 4 in the second floor conference room in the University of New Orleans Advanced Technology Building located at 2021 Lakeshore Drive in New Orleans.
This committee was charged by the Oyster Task Force with researching oyster availability and productivity of the public oyster seed grounds east of the Mississippi River.
The meeting is open to the public and the agenda is as follows:
1. Review and approval of November 17, 2009 meeting notes<br />
2. Review and discussion of available water quality and oyster data<br />
3. Discussion of future data needs and analyses<br />
4. Set next meeting<br />
5. Adjourn
