In case [#000000][/#000000]setthehook doesn't clue you in let me know, I know you don't fish BL often but the back ground in his picture tells it all. He also said forget the East side so that is a big hint. Bearlakefishguy also mentioned the spot in one of his last post. I was hoping to head up there this weekend also but they are predicting high winds and that lake is no place to be in the winter when the wind comes up[frown]. Bummer too because this time of the year can be one of the best times to fish BL.

Wow I'm surprised you have not got any negative posts yet about keeping the macs out of bear lake. I know a guy who kept one last year and he got murdered but the know-it-alls on this website. You'll get some probably later so be prepared.

What a bunch of slayers! Lol.
Yeah it was kinda unfortunate that we had to, but the macks were gill hooked and bleeding badly.
A strange thing I noticed was the cisco we pulled off the rock pile were about half the size of the ones I had netted a week earlier at cisco beach.

What are the sizes of those macs? Were you jigging or trolling?

We were ripping for cisco when we caught all those. The largest was 13.8 the other was 9. The largest cutt was 6.

Just curious ... did you catch them (the cuts and macks) in their mouths or were they snagged? If you snagged them, they must be in there pretty thick.
Some very nice fish! Great to get a little of everything (3 species).

As I mentioned above they were gill hooked, so they swallowed it big time! Thinking about it most of the cisco were caught in the mouth too. I'd bet we only "snagged" 20 outa the 60. But yeah every trout, white fish, and even most cisco were caught in the mouth.
And we actually caught char (macks), trout (cutts), bonniville whites, bear lake whites, and cisco. 5 species. 4 if ya want to call mack a trout. Way Cool! Gotta love Bear Lake!

you just gotta get lucky the wind is your biggest enemy on that lake.. and as you can see in the pics. thats water not a mirror!!!! its very rare to see the lake like that!!! as for the location.... its really no secret where the best spots on the lakes are..... find the rocks you'll find the fish!!! tackle really isnt a secret either kast masters!!!! all of those trout where chuck full of cisco!! you just gotta get lucky with mother nature!! just keep rippin! we dont ever make the trip up unless we can fish from sun up till sun down!!! diligence pays Oh yea and it helps to have a die hard veteran fishermen to go with (chugg) 40ft-85ft depth. if you really want specific details talk to scotty (bearlake fish guy).. dont know if there really are many guys that know that lake better than him!

i went and had an absolute blast!!! looks like i might be going this week and then this weekend again also, all depending on a few things, especially the weather.... that place gave me an itch and i wanna scratch it! lol

great lets see some pics??????

they are on the GF's camera im waiting for her to upload them.
on a side note i did see soemthing damn cool:
when i caught the first cutty, when it jumped, it spit a cisco. seagulls started to try to grab it then the GF said "look at that!"
it was a bald eagle that dive bombed the cisco, and he was HUGE! we got a pic of him flying away, this happened about 30 feet from us and was one of the coolest things i have ever seen.

turns out the rest are on my camera, but heres one, notice how flat and calm the water is, it was such a great day!
