Hello, Hello... I am glad to be back in a state that uses is forum. I was very active on the Utah forum, then moved to Washington. And Finally have settled here in Rexburg, ID. The only problem... I have no Idea where to go to fish. Don't get me wrong I plan on Hitting Salmon in Apr. and yellowstone is close. But I mean just a day trip. I've been told the Snake is decient, but would love some true knowledge from locals. I can provide details on most of northern UT and the south sound if your planning a trip. I am a Mediocre Fly fisher and mainly enjoy sitting on a lake shore drowning worms. Thanks in advance for help/ tips. P.S. I am looking for spring fishing areas as I will be an official resident in mid-march!!

Welcome to Idaho!
I don't know much about the Rexburg area myself, but there are several on here that do. I would say South Fork of the Snake and the Teton River.
Good Luck

The other thing I was going to suggest is to get a map and decide how far you want to travel. Then do a search here for some of the lakes, rivers etc. There has really been a lot of information given already.

Or even just flip back through the posts to last summer's and see what was being talked about in your area.

I can't give you up to date info, but I can say you moved into an amazing area for fishing. check out the Henry's Fork, South Fork, Teton River, basically any other blue line you find on your map near there! if you want to lake fish... Henry's lake, PalliSades, Ririe, Island Park, Mud Lake, Mackay.....
I would also suggest going to last year's posts since that will give you dates and what was working (or not) at what time of year...
Good luck

go to the local tackle shop and ask them for spots near by. you are also only about an hour away from henry's fork (best fishing in idaho) I am always of hearing about spots in that area.

The opportunities are endless around Rexburg. It really depends on what you are looking for. You are in a great central location for the south fork, henry's fork,
henry's lake, island park reservoir, paliSades, teton river, and a boat load of smaller
streams that can be excellent. Not to mention everything in Yellowstone.

More of the same mentioned above. I had a buddy living in Rexburg for a while that would regularly make 1/2 day outings as far east as PaliSades dam, anywhere on the S. Fork of the Snake, up to Ashton for the Henry's Fork all the way down to Rexburg, over to Ririe Res., a ton of places on the Teton (get a map and find where if crosses the country roads N. & E. of there). All of them have consistent if not spectacular fishing, if you know what to offer [Wink]

As you can see with many posts ice fishing is amazing around hear. I can think of no where better to be in the month of December as everything freezes up. Everyone gave you top notch waters, but if you are interested in very quick trips try your local Rexburg pond ( go for the elusive gold fish), and 12 miles south is Rigby Lake (Jefferson County Lake) where it is stocked in June and stays a good fishery to about January; then it slowly looses its water, and regains it by June.

This is an awesome area to live--wlecome and enjoy!
