I am developing a multi-million dollar indoor fishing arena to serve as a public aquarium/educational facility also. In the design, visitors may go into the basement and look through viewing panels into the fishing ponds. Would you go?
I answered your other post and wish you good luck! I'm interested to see how this survey does and will keep an eye on it. Looks like the scales are leaning towards "YES"!

I never do pay ponds but this sounds like a one of a kind idea! i would totally do this. i think it would be a really neat experience. What i mean is for one in the cold winter when everyone got cabin fever we cold fish indoors! For two we cold learn alot! This would be a great thing for people who wanna see what there lures look like under water and help them understand how fish react to certain lures. This intern IMO would make you a better fisherman at your local lake when you are back home using what you learned at this facility. This could even go big with the big brand lure manufactures that wanna test there new stuff out and see how it looks and works in a real live environment.

I have a sggestion. While you are at it you should build a hotel beside this place that is totally dedicated to fishing with a fish lodge type feel.

there is something similar to this in Towada City Japan that i paid for when i lived there. you paid an entrance fee, then paid for what ever you caught... i got friendly with the owners daughter, and was allowed to only pay my entrance fee as long as everything i caught i tossed back. it was pretty cool the way he had it set up.... it was like 2 olympic sized swimming pools big and then a "creek" that connected a smaller pond with about 20 to 30 yards of riffles you could fly fish. anywho i ended up using it to work on presentations. i cut the barbs off my hooks because i got sick of catch a ton of little Masu Trout. they had the walls painted like a forest scene, and "grass" around all of the edges, the roof was high enough to steeple cast a fly rod and in some spots regualr roll and barrel casts. anywho after living there for 4 years i saw him change alot when i started giving him my old F&S magazines... he added structure (old cleaned out tires, a childs play ground set, etc) and started charging people more. it was a cool experiance but from what his daughter said it started to cost him an arm and a leg to keep it stocked up.

I would love to see places like that. It would also be a big hit for lure companies. I wouldn't have a problem paying during the winter.

That would be interesting! It will be convenient to people who wants to go fishing but are not allowed because of certain sensitivity. Plus, it will be safer for kids too! I wish you good luck on this wonderful project, and I hope I can visit it soon!

Your idea sounds like a good one. It would be a boon to handicapped individuals who aren't able to access many outdoor places. Although I will always be found at my favorite outdoor spots in good weather, I would give it a whirl in the winter and inclement weather. Keep God in the details and I would say you onto a great project! Dave [Image: happy.gif]

This is an interesting idea. I would probably go experiment a lot therewith new and different lures, to see more clearly how they worked.

I like the idea of having a good place to take the family! No worry about bugs and probably safer for younger kids.

I like the idea![Wink]

I would not fish an indoor facility for the same reason I would not use a guide. Fishing is about finding fish and enticing them to take the bait offered. I think all the challenge is gone in guided fishing and in fish farm "harvesting" ponds.
From the looks of the poll I am in the minority, so I wish you the best in your fish farm/pay pond idea.

Sounds kinda like some of those floating piers they have on lakes in Texas. Resturant, tackle shop, fully enclosed.
Heated in Winter and Air Conditioned in Summer. Avery pleasant way to sit around with the kids and fish.

Like the idea of going down stairs and having an under water view. I'd go.

Thank you for voting. Feel free to give more input and tell me where you live. (state) We are planning the facility for the twin cities. Hopefully open within 2 yrs.

Your input helps make this a reality!

Enjoy the fishing.

I think that it is a great idea. you could also have multiple revenue streams by selling live bait, apparel, sponsorships, maybe have a large tackle shop attached for people that are going out to fish but still need supplies.

I think that is a good idea.

I would check it out probly but I wouldn't pay to fish it.... Unless it just looked like somthing I just had to do..

I think this would have a lot to do with where you built the arena. For example, here is Canada, there are so many lakes that it might not be popular. However, in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and so on, they have tons of money and have built world leading indoor sky hills, race tracks and so on. I think there is a great opportunity for this type of arena there.

Indoor fishing exists in South Korea and is popular with a certain segment of the population.
