Hi everybody:

First of all I want to say that I've been reading the forum for a while but I just recently signed up and I want to say thanks for all the advice that I have read you guys are great!

My friends and I go to school up in Moscow, Idaho and we are planning on making a trip to the Boise area for spring break (5-6 days) where my parents live. My question is, are there any good spots that we should stop at between the two places? We are going to go down highway 95 and then depending on input from you guys will either take it all the way down to the Boise area or will take 55 through McCall. I havn't been fishing for a very long time so I'm not so familiar with all the locations, we are however planning on stopping by Riggins and then once we are in the Boise area paying CJ Strike a couple visits since I've been reading that that place is kinda heating up as of late. And no we don't have a boat cause we are super broke college kids haha.

We like to fish for everything but we mostly fish steelhead, trout, sturgeon, crappie, and bass. If there are more species that we should be looking at let me know and also any and all advice is very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance guys (and gals)!

Heres what I used to do when I was up in Moscow. Hit the Clearwater and follow it upstream all the way until the S. Fork. Fish the sf all the way up to the grade. Take the grade and you'll pop out in Grangeville and head to riggins from there. Stop and fish the main and the little salmon and then head to cascade for possible ice fishing or maybe some ice off trout. Then go to strike and fish for crappie or sturgeon!

Yeah that's kind of what I was thinking as well, I think the trip will probably end up being something along those lines, thanks for the insight!

If you're going to take Hwy 55, after going thru Long Valley, you go into the canyon leading to Rainbow Bridge. From the bridge to where you break out into Smith's Ferry, that stretch of the Payette has some good trout fishing. Not a lot of pulloffs but there is a road on your right that I usually park at just before the end of the canyon.

Oh ok awesome, I'll be sure to stop by around there and give it a shot. Thanks for the tip!

Don't forget the main Salmon between Whitebird and Riggins for Smallies. I always stop around the Lucile area and do some casting for them. My wife pulled a 5# out of there.

If you don' mind planters, the Horseshoe Bend pond has recently been planted. Use night crawlers and a marshmallow or worm under a bobber, or power bait. The pond is just south of the bridge on the north side of Horseshoe Bend. Look for the sign. GO VANDALS!! Mike

You boys are going to be in trouble!! You'll be doing so much fishing on the way down, you'll only get home long enough to turn around and go back. YO MOMMA is probably gonna beat you!![sly]

Haha, hopefully I won't be home long enough for her to catch me. I plan on being near the water as much as possible haha.
