I just got back from my first successful steelhead fishing trip of the year. We hit the Grande Ronde (i know it's in washington and this is the Idaho board but I like the idaho board better [Smile]) Anyway my brother had a very productive trip last week, but apparently a tournament started just after that so the fish got hammered over the weekend, but everybody still caught at least one fish. I just got this pretty little buck. He's not too big for sure, but it was great to feel something tugging on my line!

Fishing for steelhead in February wearing a t-shirt is unreal. I guess some day I need to take a road trip and fish some Washington waters.

pictures like that make it almost worth a drive that way to try and catch a steelhead this weekend.
The wife and I drove to Salmon today to check things out and to get out of town. The river is looking pretty good in the narrows and we talked to one guy that had only been there a short time and he had caught 2. I didn't fish we didn't have much time left and the hole I wanted to try was pretty full of anglers. There is still some ice above the deadwater ramp area but the far channel is open. Attached is a picture of how its looking.
