I wasn't going to fish today, but Judie (my wife) said you better go, the sun is shining and not too much wind. How is that for support. She has been my best friend for almost 40 years, and we all are lucky to have a good partner in our life. Don't forget Valentine's Day is Sunday, and a little something special for your better half will surely be appreciated.

Now on to the fishing. I put in at CFP around noon. I had a plan, lol. I hit a couple of open water structures and marked a ton of bait and several schools of I think Crappie. Nothing would bite. The water temp was around 41 degrees. I ran up a creek looking for some warmer water, It was muddy and 42 in the creek. I finally found some water that was a little clearer and the temp jumped to 48 degrees. This was what I was looking for. I fished for about 20 minutes with a PA 1/32 jig milky color with flecks. Nothing. Hmm my "plan" is not working yet.

Ate my lunch and tried a couple of docks, not a bite. Went back to to the warm water spot and tried a 1/16 BG Shad in Bluegrass in 12-14' of water. Had a little sideways line movement and set the hook, a crappie was on the other end, lol. Caught 6 keepers there on a 5-6 count, and really had to pay attention and set the hook on anything that seemed different during the retrieve. I had several blanks sets with nothing there, but occasionally there was a fish on the end of the line. Drumking and Polo have taught me a lot about watching the line for the subtle bites. Thanks guys, I probably wouldnt have caught any without the tutoring.

Found one more spot in a different creek and caught 4 more keepers and 1 yellow bass. None of the fish were huge, but solid 10-11 inchers. All fish returned to the lake. Came in about 4 and it was a satisfactory day for the tough conditions. Still pulling a ton of current.

Regards, Labman
