Well we are finally going to ice fish the Gorge.. I have been there many yrs ago.. I'm looking for safe ice.. will i need to bring my snow machine.. I seen a few photos and the lake look snow free.. We will be targeting the macs.. I went to sportsmans and picked up a map of the area.. I see a lot of dirt rds thought.. Im thinking on hitting lost dog or buckboard.. to get to lost dog head so. on 530 from green river.. But the dirt rd isnt marked on the map.. Is it marked with a rd sign ?? also on the map it says "shifting sand & gravel-- DANGEROUS NAVIGATION" Are these rds 4x4 only ?? Second spot is buckboard.. Is the rd marked as well ?? Or if you might have a differnt spot you would like to share.. Please do.. P.M me if you want..
Thanks
P.S we are heading there on the 27 & 28.. if you are going maybe we can meet up ??

Buckboard road is paved and marked. Holmes and Anvil roads are marked and well-travelled. The rest, ???. Someone else can probably help. We don't have a lot of snow on the ground. Stay north of Anvil for safest ice.

The Lost Dog road is marked too. Long and washboardy, but easily traveled. I fished across from Anvil on Sunday and there's finally some snow on the ice, about 2 inches of white on 10 inches of clear. Probably double the ice uplake, just watch the pressure ridges if you bring a machine. Good luck.

Lost dog has a sign and I took my Camry down it last month to the lake.

I see that there is no boat ramp at lost dog.. Is there easy access to the lake.. I'm taking my snow machine.. Just dont want to get there just to find out its a 25 foot drop to the ice... thanks..

You can drive right to the edge of the lake. You could play ice road trucker if you wanted although I wouldn't recommend it.[:p]

Was at Lost Dog this last Sunday, Like what was said easy access, but very little snow on the ice. If you have an ATV I think you'd do better than with a snowmobile. Just my thoughts. The East side of the lake had a little more snow for your machine, and you may do better on the east side as not many people go over there, good luck
