We, rustyhook and I, decided to fish Jordanelle with two goals in mind. We got a late start because of being in the barn half of the night. Yes, I am delivering lambs in this weather, but all is well, we got triplets last night.

We have snowshoes so the snow isn't too much fo a problem. We were fishing by 8:00 am.. My guide, Rustyhook, isn't happy unless we walk atleast a mile to some spot that he has found on a map and is sure that it will be the magic place.

Yes that is open water that you can see. We didn't walk that far. Ice was still 6 to 8 inches thick where we fished. After drilling 50 holes, I'm not kidding, and walking through most of them marking the depth, we were ready to fish. First fish on the ice was a chub. Not what we were looking for. Next fish was a keeper. A nice fat 12 1/2 inch perch

We kept moving and catching small perch, good for bait but not big enough to fillet. Finally a good mark on the sonar. Set the hook and hoped for the best and the drag started screaming.

The fish came to the ice five times and ran each time it got close to the hole. On the third run Rustyhook got a look and said it was a brown. Finally got it up into the hole and one the ice. It was 19 1/2 inches and quickly we took a picture and released it. The camera was acting up so only pic is with the tape measure (darn batteries). This was our second goal, get me a brown.

There is a ton of small perch in the area and the occasional large one. We left about noon, both goals accomplished and we were ready for lunch. Good luck fishing.
