I'm gonna be in Burley the first week of March and want to do some fishing but I'm not familiar with the fishing in the area. Anyone have some ideas of spots that I could fish within and hour or so of Burley. I'll be fishing from shore and am open to fishing for any species. Lakes, rivers, ice fishing, etc. are all options I would consider. Any ideas or info you guys have would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

There are lots of great places milner recreation area, below minidoka dam, emerald lake hub 66 pond by exit 208 anywhere along the river at the public boat ramps. still a little early for bass but there are trout carp suckers whitefish catfish and chubs in the river and a small number of perch out towards exit 216. Im thinking your best bet would be below minidoka on the south side of the river. It produces some decent trout this time of year both above and below. most directions are available threw google maps.

i had to go up that way today so i did a little photo recon for you. i forgot to mention that on the south side just after the pavement ends you have to hang a left at the 1550 road. follow it about 3/4 mile and it will take you down to the river.

I have heard that there are some changes comeing as far as access. One thing is NO access within 400 yards of the dam. Above or below! I was told that the lower boat launch would be ok. There will be NO crossing the dam. Have you heard this? Ron

Yea I have heard some stuff like that But i think there compromise will be anything behind the buoy line. there getting ready to do a major overhaul on the retaining wall and i believe they will use the construction to impose the new regulations. they might have security up there again when the construction starts so pay attention to the signs trespassing on a government installation is a expensive fine and if your doing it why fishing you can loose your licence up to two years. But i think the first while there will be some warnings at least that's what was done before.

Cool pics! Thanks again for all the help. Hopefully I'll get into some fish and be able to post some pictures.

Also, is the lake above the dam still frozen? If so is the ice fishing any good? Also, do you know if American Falls reservoir is still frozen?

Thanks again!

Your welcome. The reservoir is still frozen But i don't know how thick the ice is. I'm sure someone will post that knows as a lot of people fish it. i don't know about american falls but the other threads you see on here about sportsman park is up there on the reservoir
