[cool]Went out after work to try my luck once again. Well my luck must be all bad cause I didn't get anything. I tubed Hemenway for just over an hour and then went to Boulder Harbor for a couple more. Saw two guys on shore with about four schoolies on bait. I was using large and small trout imitating lures only. It was still nice to get out and stretch my legs. I guess I'll wait for March to hook up.

Well you are the Big E & the effort will pay in the long run.
Congrats on 300 post.
I went out today for some shore fishing before going to the striper tournament weigh-in.

Hiked down to 33 hole area, fished for about 3 hours no bites. Was ready to leave and saw some fishing line on the ground and in the water. As I was removing the line used from the water it pulled back. Hand over hand and got me lunch, a 12" catfish.

Also who has anchovies in town? Sandy Cove has small pin size 3" to 4", Laker Plaza and Lake Mead marina's are selling Sardines in Achovy bags.

The Walmart by my house (Centennial HIlls) has them for $2.?? a bag. You just have to ask by the outdoors center. They should have a freezer back there. They also have nightcrawlers and salmon eggs in a cooler...if you're so inclined.

I would imagine every walmart in the area, especially those close to Mead would have them too.

I wouldn't be too concerned about fishing with sardines. They are actually a bit more oily and bloody than anchovies, and tend to get get more bites (in my experience). I have heard a few striper guides say that when bait-fishing, you should chum with small pieces of anchovy, and bait up with the oily sardines. They say that the sardine will stand out amongst the bland 'chovie and get hit. They seem to fall apart less also.

Well the Wizzle was right, went back to 33 hole again (2-28-10). Started fishing at 8:30, saw 2 people on a point and 2 others on another. Chumed up the area with 2 bags of sardines and waited and waited. Around 10:30 got a tap, then the pole bent over and set the hook. Nice catfish measured 18" and full belly of chum. That was it for three people, left at 11:00.
