Drove by Boysen res. and some serious hard water. Trucks parked out on the main lake. Talked to a local and they said ice was about 3 ft. thick. It will be awhile before I launch there [frown]
Went down to Thermopolis and my realtor was showing me pics of the rainbows, browns and cutthroats that he catches out of the Big Horn river right in town. 3# to 6# fish are the average size [shocked]
My god I may have to take up slimer fishing in my off time.
I didn't get to wet a line but the good news is I bought a house in Thermopolis thats only 3 blocks from the river [cool]
My dreams and hopes of getting out of Utah are finally coming true!!!
I'm really going to miss my friends and fishing partners here but I'm damn sure not going to miss Utah.
I'll post a address and new phone # soon and I "WILL" have an open door welcome to any of my friends that want to come visit and go do some quality fishing ( walleyes and trout ) with out the crowds and power squadren ruining the trip.
Oh yeah and the realtor also told me that my place is only about a 1 1/2 miles from BLM land that has some good antelope, whitetail, muley hunting and 11 to 12 miles from some decent elk hunting [
]
Dreams do come true!!!!!!!!!!!

Well crankem we've never met but we truly enjoy reading your reports on eye fish'n and the same goes for FOD. We're expanding our fish'n and love going after them eyes on Willard. Last year was our first year...and think'n we did okay on Willard for eyes.
Need a trip to Starvation and we've been checking out Boysen since the last year. Just need to do it. Again good luck and yes 'dreams-do-come-true'. Good on you and we wish you all the best for the future. God Bless and God Speed...hope you continue to post on the Utah sites...again we really like reading them. All the best K2.

Thanks for the kind words folks. I've been planning this move for about 10 years now. The wife and I retiring 18 months ago has finally made it a reality [cool]
Where do you call home Mountianman?
If it's not a walleye don't put the net in the water![

Glad to hear your plans are coming together. The wife is already planning a trip in that direction.

Good to hear you found the right place to move Roger, I guess that means you sold your house[:/] here? How far is Thermopolis from Boysen? I'll be looking forward to getting that phone number and address from you, I'm coming up for sure this year[
].

Good luck and best wishes to you and Deb I'm sure you will enjoy it. If we draw our deer tags, the wife and I should be headed thru there in Oct. The only thing that will suck for you this year is you will most likely have to apply for your big game hunts as a non-resident and hope to draw a tag. I think they require 1 year in state to become a resident. The elk hunt application date has allready passed, deer and antelope are due in by March 15th.

Wiperhunter,
Your more than welcome my friend. Boysen can be an awsome fishery for eyes and trout.
No, our house here in Roy is still on the market.
If it dosn't sell by June we are going to rent it to my oldest step daughter and her husband.
I've waited long enough for this move. I'm not going to have the sale of our house in Utah hold me back.
Boysen is about 18 miles from Thermopolis.

Hi Pete,
Looking forward to this move. It's been a long wait.
I won't be hunting any "horns" in Wyo. this year but a friend up there says we can probably buy some over the counter doe/fawn tags for freezer meat.
We are still going to hunt Utah this fall. Deb and I are going to fish the Starvation classic in Sept. and we already have put in for the resident buck/bull tags. If we don't draw we'll buy an over the counter ML deer tag and general bull permit.
And yes it's all legal. I called the F&G and if you get the hunting permits 6 months prior to moving out of Utah your good to go [
]
When you make it over to our place, I'll have the coffee on or cold beer ready my friend. [

If it's not a walleye, don't put the net in the water.

BLR1,
It will be good to wet a line with you again. Looking froward to it.

Just a heads up. If you want to come up fishing I'm going to be pretty busy between the first of May till the end of June.
I have 4 tourneys in Wyo. that I'm fishing and have to be back at lake Winnebago in Wisconsin for about a week as we qualified for the Cabela's National Team Championships tourney again this year.
Pretty exciting stuff [
]
WET1 will be fishing the NTC with me and I'm pumped about the oppurtunity to go again.
So for that 2 month period between putting a new house together, a looong distance trip to Wisc. and 4 locale tourneys it's going to be hectic to say the least [crazy]

I will be up too see you as soon as you get there or ice off.

If you learn how to catch those fish thru the ice at Boysen I'd love to give them a try on the hard deck. Stopping for a drink on the way thru this fall sounds good. Make sure you frequent the Utah BFT site so we can stay in touch.

Well Roger, I Hate to say good bye to an old friend of more than 30 years. You impressed me when we first started bow hunting together with all of your know how and it didn't stop there, every thing you did you were good at it, you taught me a lot during the times we spent hunting or fishing. Even back then you would talk about getting out of the state. Looks like you finally made it my friend, good luck!
I'll watch for your post with you contact info.

AJ old buddy how you been?
Alot of water has run under the bridge since you and I started fishing and hunting togerther.
I'll never forget about all those pig walleyes we used to catch out of Willard back in the 80s and how mad I'd get at you for using ultralight spinning equipment and it would take you 10 or 15 minutes to land the fish [shocked]
Or the time you shot that buck with a bow that was coming straight at you and cut his tail off as the arrow exited [crazy]
That was back in the days when Browning was custom building our bows for us and we were shooting some massive poundages.
Lots of good memories and I'll miss you too.
Maybe you can make a trip over to Wyo. and spend a little time with us. do some fishing and talk over old times.
It would be great to see you and your more than welcome to come and stay as long as you like.
If it's not a walleye don't put the net in the water

I want to welcome you to Wy. You will love it as you already know. Hopefully this year we can get to gether and do a little fishing.
[signature]
Thanks for the welcome Big Al. I've spent so much time in Wyo. over the last 2 years I should already be considered a resident [
]
We kind of missed meeting up last year but I'm sure we can get together and wack some eyes this summer.
Looking forward to it.
If it's not a walleye don't put the net in the water.

DAMN GOOD ON YOU CRANKEM!! I love hearing someones' dream coming TRUE!!! Makes life worth working on and dreaming for! Crank'em, I only met you once at Willard a couple yrs ago, back when my screen name here was Wallychaser or something like that. Anyway, maybe some time my gf Kaye and I will drive that way and take ya up on the opendoor policy, but is that with or without my boat? I usually don't go ANYWHERE near water without "maboat" (F Gump). I do know you KNOW wallys and I thought I did...but finding out I'm lacking. A man's GOT to know his limitations (C Eastwood) That is about the BEST news I've heard from someone in a while, keep it up world!
I take it you won't leave like tomorrow or anything tho? You moving right away? That seems like it'd be closer for you and your walleye tournys that you go to. I'm from Kansas and have fished Nebraska alot to for walleyes. I would love to retire at Lake McCounaghay (sp?)Never fished for wallys anywhere else. I DO KNOW my slimers tho'! Do you ice fish?
WAY TO GO!!! What's the next dream now? Winning in Mich?
I'd LOVE to be able to be a walleye tournament fisherman. Especially back in the Midwest. Lotta money to win, but alotta to play just to win...
