Hey,
Me and my dad went night ice fishing yesterday at pineview! We got out on the ice about 6. We drilled couple holes in 31ft of water. We headed out into 42ft hoping to catch bigger fish. We got out into 42ft of water and got all set up. Nothing happened for a hour. Hour later FISH ON! My dad started to reel. Drag start going out i tighten his drag. We thought we were hooked on a log. We finally got the fish up top.... OH MY, THAT IS THE BIGGEST CRAPPPIE I HAVE EVER SEEN! We measured it at 14.5"(14.5in) and weighed 1.5lbs. We thought it was the catch and relase record easy. Searched it up in the hand book. Dang we were less then 1.25 away. 10 min later. FISH ON. start reeling get it to the top a little bit easier then the other one. Measured this one at 13.25! We knew we were in the right spot for crappie.(We still caught 2 more) But we wanted to try for some perch. So we went to our holes at 31ft. But fish finder in the hole it was blank. Watched for a sec school of fish swam by. So we decided to drop our poles down. Set them in the pole holder and only got a bite there. Not even a fish.
So here is my question with my report. Where do you want to be when you night fish at pineview or Mantua? We could not decide if they would be deep or shallow or deep. So we tried in between. Because durning the day in our "secert" spot is in 15ft of water. And we kill them during the day. So would more move in to shallow water or would they go into deeper water?
Thanks!!!
