was able to find a couple hours of "out time" saturday and headed up to DC. arrived at 12:50 had jig in hole by 1:11. nothing caught for me, I fished two holes in the marina bay just about even with the middle buoy but I was near the island first hole about 40 yards from shore, next was about 40 feet from that towards middle of bay. water was reading 35 degrees, depth was 30 to 33 feet, Ice was still 13 to 14 inches thick. fish came through on the finder in groups of 5 to 7 it seemed. I was right on bottom maybe a foot off of it looking for perch. none found, not even when I was probing what appeared to be weeds or grass on the bottom. oh well, it was nice to get out for a while. I left at 2:45 to get back home for a dinner we had to leave at 4 for. the group next to me caught 4 or 5 while i was there, at least they ran to the poles that many times. one guy was playing with one while i was walking out. they had a "lady" with them, i say "lady" as i knew she was old enough, but i could not tell if she was older than me (33) who seemed to like conversing about her "purple rabbit" whatever that is, but she highly recommends it. LOL I would not suggest you google that one. needless to say, i kept the 50 foot separation rule in effect i would not want to intrude. they were right next to the buoy nearest the island as you walk into the bay from the road.
I parked just out side the marina lot on the side of the road by the island, access was pretty good, i was expecting a big jump to clear the water, but I walked right over the two inches on the way out it was wet though. busted through on my way in and ended up in 4 inches but it did not affect the buggaboots (Columbia) I had on. I would recomend taking a plank for the next few weeks just in case. I didnt mind it, but if your not quick or bigger than me (160 lbs) you may find a deeper spot to go through on the edges.
