Had a day off and decided to try scofield for the first time this year. Got there around 8:30 and were surprisingly the first ones on the lake. Probably a bad sign but we headed out near the island on the east side. Fished in 20 feet of water. Had a fish cam down and saw tons of chubs and only a few trout. Managed to catch only 4 trout, 1 cutt and 3 rainbows, all about 12 inchers. Most of the chubs were about 4 to 5 inches and would not leave the bait alone. Tried worms, power bait, salmon eggs, waxies, minnows. Didn't matter the chubs wouldn't leave them alone. Most trout were caught a few feet of the bottom. Others near us seemed to do about the same. Its a shame to see that lake so full of chubs. [pirate] No pics as nothing was worth taking a pic of.

I sure hope that you did not release the chubs.

Is there any slush on Scofield?

I went out Saturday and stay at the mouth of the arm to the bridge. Caught about 15 - 20 cutts and a few bows. Surprisingly no chubs and unfortunately no tigers either. Still a fun day. Sorry you didn't have the best of luck.
I did go out there night fishing not to long ago and all but one fish that i did catch were chubs. I managed to bring in one bow that night.

no slush and ice is about a 16 inches at least. we did keep the chubs as bait and donated the bigger ones to the birds [

Maybe you tried this, but I've found in the past 2 ice fishing trips I've made to Scofield that the tiger trout are right up in the rocks in about 10 feet of water or less. Last time I fished most of the day in deeper water and only caught bows and skinny cutts. Then I moved close to the rocks and caught a tiger right off the bat. If I go back again I know exactly where I'll fish. They were biting as shallow as 7 feet.

I might have to try a little bit closer to the shores next time. I was in 15 feet of water last time time to go even closer. I might go up in the morning. Don't know much of the area but know where I might try.
