Just a question about Mantua or Pineview. My buddy and I are headed out Friday to catch some fish, but we want to target perch/bluegill/crappie. Does anyone have any specific tips for us? We have caught bluegill and perch at Mantua before early in the season, but not so much luck now. Would you recommend there or Pineview?? Any specific bait they prefer rather than the trout? I know there aren't any crappie in Mantua, or at least I'm not aware of any. But just some pointers would be appreciated.

Went to Pineview yesterday morning from 7 - 10. Caught a ton of perch, but they were all dinks. Fished in 25 - 30 feet of water. Try deeper for the big ones? also take a shovel to get down through the snow and frozen slush, otherwise you won't be able to drill deep enough.

Wax worms and night crawlers both worked great.

I was at Pineview on Sunday. I was fishing in 40'-45' of water as i was targeting the bigger perch and crappie. It was slow to say the least. Only a couple decent sized fish and a couple of dinks.

There was a family fishing near me closer to the shore in probably 20' of water and the kids were raking in the little perch.

They were using mealworms.

I usually use a mealworm or waxworm unitl I catch my first dink perch then cut it up for bait. All of my successful trips to Pineview this year have come at the hand of perch meat on a glow ratfinky. You just have to figure out where they are.

There are no fish in Mantua. I was able to verify this early in the year.

You must be fishing in the wrong spot. We have caught our limit of trout each time. Earlier in the year we caught some bluegill and largemouth thru the ice too.
