Coming out of Callville this evening and 3 fisherman have this old fishing boat with a 150 hp Mercury outboard partially recovered .. They can't get the helm trim to work and so can't raise the motor enough to tow it.

No tools, no Flashlight... It had the strangest hydraulic trim cylinder set up I've ever seen. Of course they have the headlights on to blind everyone. They fire up the 2 stroke, completely out of the water, and let it run till I tell them they will burn up the motor. I helped for a moment with my headlight and then left them to go get my trailer. Another boater stopped to help them, but no good results -at least while I was there.

Another head shaker....

They should have the reason why some one died in the obituary section of the paper. Like forgot to put drain plug back in boat or could not swim but went in the lake after wind blew off hat.

I'm with you, I never bring the boat to the lake without first charging the batts, firing it up in the yard, and making shure all systems are functioning correctly! might be my ocean boating upbringing, or just common sense...

I will be the first to admit the launch ramp can be an entertaning place to idiot watch [Wink]

Be careful out there

My favorite was when the hump at the mouth of Boulder Harbor was just barely submerged. I would sit in my kayak and watch boat after boat run aground. They would then proceed to throw it in reverse, and GUN IT!! Rocks and mud and water flying, and they got nowhere.

Now the hump is sinking, and the geniuses are bound to find it with their props [laugh]
