i had to do some stuff in price today for work. so i took the short cut there and made a stop at scofield for a while.. got there about 9:30 got out to a area i have done ok in it the past. got the holes punched.. put a small jig on and a worm trying to catch a chub.. well did not take long for that.. in about 5 min's i had a fresh chub setting on the ice. cut it up and started catching some fish.. cought a bunch of small ones all day. most small cutt's and bow' .. right before i was getting ready to go and get on with the business of getting to price.. i got a good hit. pulled a 18 inch cutt' in then called it a day.. was a very nice day out there today. no slush that i could see. about 6 to 8 inchs of snow on the ice. ice is about 24 to 28 inchs thick..

well the area i was fishing has a lot of weeds on the bottom. but it was still 12 feet deep. but i had to stay up about a foot to keep from snaging the weeds.

i was just going to Price to do a drug test for a job in minnasota next week.. [crazy] long way to drive just to P in a cup.. so they were paying me to do it plus miles. so why not make a day of fishing of it on the way. and get paid for it.. lol

i am unsure on this so maybe you can answer this for me. is it legal to cut up chubs and use them as bait on scofield or any other lake for that matter? what is the best way to use it for bait? just cut up a chunk and throw it on a jig? thanks for the help

yes it is legal to use chub as bait on any water in utah as long as bait is alowed on the lake or river. ya just cant us them while they are alive. i use then all the time for all kinds of fish from cat fish to lake trout.. as for the best way to use them. for trout i have found useing a small strip of chub with the skin left on tip the jig with it and jig away.. some time tho i like useing a whole chub minnow.. and a lot of times like at Joe's Valley i use just a chunck of chub.. so there are lot's of ways to use it as bait..
