Is the recreation fee that is charged only for the area along the Mirror Lake Highway or is it for all of the Unita Mt areas?

If only for along the highway, does it include the areas server by small roads off of the Mirror Lake Highway, such as East Fork of the Bear area etc?

We are trying to plan some summer trips.

Thanks for your help!

It's not all the Unitas but along Mirror Lake and most side roads unless you drive far enough away. Plus a few other areas such as American Fork
From the Ashley National Forest web page;
Recreation Fees
A fee is required for parking in the Mirror Lake Area on the Kamas and Evanston Ranger Districts of the Wasatch-Cache National Forest. This includes the following High Uintas Wilderness trailheads: Mirror Lake, Highline, American Fork Canyon and Christmas Meadows. Fees are $6/3-day,$12/7-day, or $45/year. Golden Passports are accepted.

It's any of the roads and campgrounds in the Highway 150 area. I fish areas off the highway like Spring Canyon Road and Murdock Basin quite often and still have to pay the rediculous $6.00 fee. If you park anywhere in the area, you pay. Wasn't so bad when they had a day pass for $3.00, but now the least you can get is the 2-day $6.00 model. Fuel and other expenses, so they say. I still sometimes just put 3 bucks in the envelope and write "1 day" on it. Out of the hundreds of days I've fished up there, I doubt I've ever been checked where I park!

I usually get the National Park and Federal Land Pass. It's $80 for a year but includes the National Parks plus all Federally operated lands. Just stick it in the window when you park if you need a sticker. The $6 bucks a pop plus 5-20 dollars at the parks adds up quickly. Be warned it doesn't cover Millcreek Canyon even though it's Federal Lands. Some BS about SLC operating it ( setting up a booth to collect your money). Oh and they don't tell you this until you try to leave. I said I didn't know the first time (I didn't) and they let me off.

You mentioned that they accept the Golden Age Passport. Does that mean that you don't have to pay for day use like in the national parks? Some places I have been to they charge you 1/2 price if you have one.

Thank you for the info. Does the National Park and Federal Land Pass cover Strawberry reservoir area?

Thank you all for your help. I guess I am not the only one who had a hard time finding this information. It was rather well hidden and confusing.
Thanks again!

The $80 is what the pass to all the National Parks and other Federal administered lands that charge a fee costs for a year. It's good in all states. I'm pretty sure it covers Strawberry since that's National Forest. I haven't actually been to the Berry for a couple years but I recall using for the pay parking last time I went. You can get the pass at National Parks or online. They no longer sell a pass just for National Parks. It lasts 12 months from purchase not the calendar year.

Here's the link to info and purchasing that pass.

or by at most National Parks Entrance Booths

[#800000]If you’re 62 or older the cost is reduced to $10 and the pass is a lifetime pass (never needs to be renewed). If you are permanently disabled the pass is free and is a lifetime pass. All passes have a 50% discount on some fees (such as boat launch fees) but the discount does NOT apply with the lifetime passes at facilities being run by concessionaires such as Strawberry and Pineview. All passes will work for entrance and day parking such as in the Uintas.[/#800000]

it says "Two people can sign and use each Interagency Annual Pass. Both are considered pass holders",

but how many hangtags will I get? Can me and my buddy buy a pass together and use on both our cars?

what I mean is of course two people going to two different parks at the same time. So only two tags would work.
