Caught 4 steelies on the fly this weekend(first trip for them with the fly rod). Nice weekend with weather in the 60s believe it or not.
The first picture resulted in the second picture Wink

Good looking fish, wish those were in Utah too.

I heard Fish is good BRAIN food, but that doesn't mean you have to eat THEIR brains!!!!
Very nice. Love those pictures. I have one of those STAR lenses and I have never used it. That is going to change!

These poor things get beat up on the way up river pretty bad. I think its from the dam turbines. My wife took the picture of me fighting the fish on my d90 with a cheap travel lense (tamron 18-200). Pretty cool though.

Not on the weather, Nice steelhead but you're very heavily dressed for anything approaching the 60's.
And none of Idaho or for that matter the U.S. with steelhead running was in the 60's this weekend. So unless you hit some late straggling steelies in New Zealand you might want a new thermometer.

As long as the weather police are going to jump in, I suggest you do some homework. If you dont, tt looks like dont know how to do your job....

What is this a meteorology forum now[Wink]
Nice fish regardless of the weather! I believe you could have been fishing in 60deg weather...wearing no beanie and just a sweatshirt, especially if your picture was taken in the morning! I've been up there with mornings in the teens and afternoons well over 50.
Enough about that! Nice work! That is one great lookin wild steelie, can't wait to get up there myself in a couple weeks! Gotta love steelheadin' in nice weather!

Those are very bitchin' pics...WTG!

It might have been in the 60's last year at this time. Every year is different....[laugh]

Hey Thom,
You sound spot on with recent weather just this weekend wasn't like that at all. I'm a weather nut on the side. Normally I wouldn't care if someone doesn't know that a thermometer on a car in the sun or directly in the sun might easily read 20 or more degrees higher than the actual air temp this time of year. Just calling him on the challenge because of a way too serious and extremely obnoxious reply on the Idaho about some lighthearted kidding.

HAHAHA. I'm glad someone else noticed that this was all posted last year. I didnt even remember the thread until I got an email saying it had been replied to on my cell.

2/27/10
Max Temperature56 °F
3/2/10
Max Temperature
64 °F
And yes the lows in the mornings on this trip were mostly in the 30's.

[laugh] yea. I am still chuckling. I thought riverdog would have figured it out for sure... He's a smart guy. [Wink]

Dang it!!!! You had me all excited, i was thinking it was a new report!!! I can't wait anyway, i've got all my steelhead stuff out and ready, just countin the days!

Looks like someone needs to slowly reach up with both hands and carefully remove the foot that is in his mouth now...

Those fish take a beating in the nets that the natives are able to put out in different places as well. When you consider what those fish go through over that 500 mile journey to where you were fishing there, it helps you gain a whole new respect for them.

By the way, just 9 days prior to that last year, the hole you were fishing was absolutely ON FIRE! [Wink]

[laugh]LOL. Your crackin me up. Your supposed to defend your icefishing title. After seeing those steelies again it boils my blood too. I want to hit the rivers. There are so many things to choose from in the coming weeks. Tuff choices too.

[crazy]Foot removed.
Would be worst on the board today except the post I eluded to earlier takes that title http://www.bigfishtackle.com/forum/Idaho..._collapsed

No offense, but that's debatable. Especially with the follow up post not really taking accountability, but shifting the blame back to a post that took place on a totally different state's forum.

Sometimes it's good to just let a dead dog lie, especially when if you don't it's going to make you look a little silly...

I really don't mean any disrespect, but this was pretty poor form.

Of course it's debatable. One was taking a potshot at a guy that just put a target on his head. I mistook the post for a year later so obviously was wrong. Even I got a huge laugh out of it when he played me initially like it was a recent post. Personally the post I referred to I found the most obnoxious I've read on any BFT board in the past year or 2. The kind that shuts down many people from wanting to post and way too serious for any fishing board. Even I will give myself the foot in the mouth award for the Utah boards this year just not for all boards yesterday.Just my opinion, we're all entitled to our own. Thanks for your ruling[Wink] but most courts take into account intent when prosecuting. I'd suggest we all just relax and you try to get a big laugh out it like the rest of us. By the way it's usually let a sleeping dog lie not a dead one (unless it involves a shyster in a malpractice case giving advise) but I'm going to now take that advise.

I'm still laughing.

Using intent, I would argue that it only makes you look sillier. You got your feelings hurt by a post I made that didn't even directly involve you. You then took the time to go through my historical posts looking for one where you could "teach me a lesson" for having hurt your "feel-bads". In your haste to get back at me for this terrible crime, you failed to even take the time to notice that the post you had chosen to "teach me a lesson" was nearly a year old. In this rage induced stupor, you decided that to really get back at me for hurting your "feel-bads" what you needed to do was criticize my choice of clothing and my ability to read a thermometer.

Better luck next time.
