Took the day off and went to Deer Creek for some more rainbows for the smoker. The edges are still in great shape and the ice is thick. We walked out from the island, across to the RR side. Rustyhook is always hopeful that we will find some of those walleye that we catch in the summer. The fishing was a little slow but we were rewarded by the fish being fat and of good size. Only a couple of small planters. The largest was 18 inches but the fattest was 17 inches. The wind stayed away until about noon and we were ready to go anyway. The only perch we caught were in the stomachs of the fattest rainbow. There is a bug hatch underway and most of the stomachs were full of bugs. The deer that the coyotes got was a small one, last years fawn.
