Took the day off and went to Deer Creek for some more rainbows for the smoker. The edges are still in great shape and the ice is thick. We walked out from the island, across to the RR side. Rustyhook is always hopeful that we will find some of those walleye that we catch in the summer. The fishing was a little slow but we were rewarded by the fish being fat and of good size. Only a couple of small planters. The largest was 18 inches but the fattest was 17 inches. The wind stayed away until about noon and we were ready to go anyway. The only perch we caught were in the stomachs of the fattest rainbow. There is a bug hatch underway and most of the stomachs were full of bugs. The deer that the coyotes got was a small one, last years fawn.

It seems like every year there is a dead deer on that side of the lake across from the island[crazy] Thanks for the report nice job on the fattys.

Hi sewfish, nice report and nice fish, any tips on depth and bait?

the trout with the perch in its stomach was in deeper water(about 40ft). the rest of the trout came from shallow water, they all had bugs in their stomachs. hope this helps.
