Wanting to take my younger sister out tomorrow and wondering if anyone hit Mantua or Hyru, in the past couple days. I want her to catch something and know we can get in the perch at Hyrum, but also know they are small. Anyone have news on either one of these recently?

I went to Mantua today and the trout were awesome - I pulled up 5. That seemed about the average per person. There were two guys who fished right on the water's edge from about 7-10am and it looked like they got 12 between the two of them before they left. Ice was good - At least a foot everywhere I drilled. The bluegill were also biting a lot but I tried to keep them off in favor of hooking trout.

If you don't mind me asking any particular location or bait work better than others? I'm ok with bluegills.

I started out about 50 yards north of the open water (on the southeast corner) then moved a bit further north but stuck to about 8 feet depth. Tube jig worked good for a while, then a shiny lure (I used a medium kastmaster). But I was really searching for the trout. I used meal worms and wax worms and never got a bite on a meal worm but couldn't keep the bluegill (and the occasional trout) off the wax worm. If I was just fishing for bluegill though I'd use nightcrawlers since they are more durable than the wax worms but not as caterpillarlike as meal worms.
