[fishin] Saturday was such a great day we had to get out to the River. I took my oldest girls boyfriend out for the day. We drove to Swan Valley. Turned off at the Bridge about Conent and drove just past the Falls. The road wasn't too bad but it's going to get worse before it gets better with all the warm weather. We found a turn out about 1/4 mile down from the falls and we hiked across the river channels to the main river. Not the best idea! We walked through alot of knee deep snow and we where both about out of gas by the time we got to the river. After I got so O2 back in me things were fine. We fished about a mile and half of river back to the Falls. We had a blast. Not too many trout. My partner landed a nice brown on his spin rig. He was pulling gulp minnows through some deep pools. (great tip from BFT by the way Thanks!) Had some pretty good hatchs through out the afternoon until about 4pm. I only used my flyrod and caught a fair share of whitefish. Couldn't match up the drys. Looked like a litte snow flys about size 24. All in all it was a great day. Lots of sunshine temps in the 40's

Sounds like you had a great plan that turned out well. I am about ready to get out on a river. I need to buy a new pair of insulated waders as I finally threw my old ones out.

Are you sure those white flies were not more like 32s? We used to call that winter hatch of white midges the white death hatch because the fish would be rising all over but there were so many of them it was just luck getting the fish to look at the immitation.
