I'll bet the otter's gonna have soft edges by now. I'd head to fish lake it should have another few weeks of safe ice. As for fishing on Fish Lake use white paddle bugs tipped with perch for trout and white glow brite rat finkees for perch. The paddle bugs will work pretty good for either lake.

Thanks for the info. I lean toward FL as well. I need one more trip down to the beauiful country. I fish as much for the experience in the outdoors as for catching fish.

I was down there last saturday with my family. We fished in 23 ft of water. The larger splake were caught on glow/peppered tube jigs and light green little tuff guys. The rainbows liked glow rat finkies #12 about a foot down from a silver cast master. The perch liked the Hali spoons in dark green. Everything was tipped with a wax worm and crawfish/anis smelly jelly. The slush wasn't bad and there is about 18" of ice. Good luck if you go!

Thanks for the report. I was happy to hear "the slush wasn't bad". I have seen other reports including redfrogs from last weekend - they found quite a bit of slush. Would you mind sharing your approximate location? I think we can find fish most anywhere, but I would like to avoid the slush as well. Thanks again.

I fished on the north shore just west of the Fish lake lodge below the cabins. "Bad slush" is relevent to the fisherman. I do a lot of ice fishing and pull my own sleds out by hand. Personaly I consider any slush under 6" as not bad. There was about 4" where I fished last weekend.

Thanks, that is very helpful. I pull my sled as well. 4" of slush is okay - I can work with that. I was on FL back in February - not too much slush out to just beyond the weed bed, but when we tried to walk across to the east side we hit the knee deep stuff - not too pleasant. We will likely stay on the west side this trip - thanks again for the location tip. I'll report when we get back.
