when you guys chum from shore what do you use? corn? chovies? sardines? grind in a blender?
also how do you throw it? i blended up a bunch of stuff and had it in jars but couldnt get it thrown out from shore very far. on youtube i seen a guy with the tip cut of a plastic baseball bat cut off and he used it to flip chum and whole shad.
also today at work someone smashed a fish oil supplement capsul on the floor of our ambulance and it was horrible smelling. and i scrubbed it 10 times and couldnt make it stop smellin like fish. i think next time i make chum i might smash a few capsuls into it for extra smell

I use sardines and corn.. I wont dare stick it in the blender though. I usually grind it outside with an old meat grinder i got at a yard sale. I think sardines work better than anchovies because they are a bit more oily and pungent. There are lots of ways you could get it out farther..I usually tie a light rope to a gatorade bottle.. fill it with chum and pop holes in it then throw it out. I will bring it back in every 5 min or so and throw it back out if its floating back to shore.

Frozen chunks of cut bait can be launched out pretty far with a wrist rocket slingshot.

Got busted using a slingshot at Mead. They didn't take it away but was informed it was not a toy but a weapon.

What were you using it for? Never mind, don't answer that question. [
] I've got two 9" filet knives and two nasty bait knives on my boat..... I hope they never tell me that they are weapons!

Ive used a slingshot a bunch for chum. Works great for chucking frozen pieces of anchovies and sardines, and can work well with corn if you have a bigger model.

Since I read your post on using anchovies for chum and sardines for bait I've been real well. Can't say for certain its the sardines, but I'm a believer. One of the better tips I've gotten, thanks. I've also been putting my chum in a buttefly net with a couple of styrafoam bobbers and then tying to some string with a couple weights further down the line and throwing it out as far as I could. Bobbers keep it from getting snagged. Tried it yesterday in the Vegas Wash and did good with it.
