I am looking into building/buying a creel for the upcomming season, my question is about how to use it.
I have read some confusing information about how they work. I understand that the point is to keep the creel wet to keep fish moist and cool so it stays fresh while you are on the water but what I am
on is the state of the fish inside.
Do I "quick kill" the trout, to be more humane and put it in the creel out of water, do i put the fish in the creel alive out of water or am I susposted to put it in the creel alive and keep the creel in the water?
Sorry if this seems like a rudimentary question. I had done most of my fishing after work and if I was keeping I would just dispatch the fish quickly and keep it in a bag in the cool evening air untill I got home ( about an hour tops). This year I would like to try and do more "fishing trips" and will need to keep fish fresh for longer periods but I will be on foot and not in a boat w/ a cooler or live well
thanks
