I hit up Rainbow Bay today after work. Got there just before 4:00 and left about 6:30. The edges were SOFT. I managed to get onto the hard deck with a 2x12 8 foot plank left by someone, and a 4x8 sheet of plywood. Anyways, not a bite in 51 feet of water (targeting perch) until 5:00. Then, the bite was not fast but steady. Only problem... all perch coming up were about 5-6 inches. ell after catching a few smallperch on weak little bites, I was about to call it a day just after 6, when I had another light bite..... but missed. I put it back down and my bobber goes down about a half inch and just sits there. I set the hook... and was sure it was no perch, and if it was it was a MONSTER. Well, it didn't fight too hard but had some weight to it. I finally get it to the top of the hole and see...... WALLEYE, and a nice one (maybe about 20"). Sadly, it's head came out of the water and the tiny hook came out. I wanted to cry as this would have been my first eye on the ice. Oh well, I guess there is next time.
No pics today, nothing LANDED was worth getting out the camera.
