Has anyone fished for strugeon in The Idaho Falls area. I know they released them around John's Hole but haven't sucess in catching them.
Also how is the fishing for them below American Falls dam.
Any info would be a help. I have a jet boat so getting on the water is not a problem.

I caught this little one below American Falls last summer. They are in there. We were using 50lb mono and using chicken livers wrapped in a huge netting. about the size of a small orange. Any small fish 8-10 inches works as bait. We use perch below Hagerman with good success. The river is closed below American Falls until the general season opens Memorial weekend.

Ive seen people fish for them year round below eagle rock with good success biggest Ive seen come out of there was around 6 foot. also heard stories of guys catching some trout out of Gifford springs that were full of black eggs

eagle rock is just below neely and up stream from the massacre rocks boat ramp the last spot that you can fish year round. everything upstream to the dam is under general fishing seasons. Gifford springs is downstream from raft river I believe a couple of miles smith springs is right across the river from the raft river exit. both are hot spots for trout during the winter months.

I keep thinking about trying in I.F. for them but I hardly know the first thing about targeting them. Figure the best bet would be get a circle hook, put a chunk of cut bait on there and fling it out there and kick back w/ a drink and a book for a while. But who knows, maybe it would be faster fishing. I'd be very interested in anyone targeting them.

im intersted in fishing for them but im scared to have another addiction to soak money into. i heard they planted them at john holes bridge. so its not like i would have to go far to try for one. i met a guy at the lower gem lake damn that said he had caught 2 that were about 4 feet long while he was fishing for trout with a worm that he had put scent on. this was almost 3 years ago when they were first planted.

I would give those little guys they released another 20 years before making any real effort on them.

I know they planted a variety of different size fish. I am going to see what the local F&G have to say about them locations of fished being hooked and where the likely spots would be to start
I have a jet boat so getting to spots won't be a problem
Will keep you posted on the outcome

Its not that expensive. you can get a good ugly stik and shop for a used penn reel on ebay and be in it less than 100 bucks. the next thing you need is a sinker mold hooks and line. for a couple hundred bucks you can have many hours of enjoyment. Now finding all the time to keep up with your fishing expeditions is another story [

I read that Auger Falls is by Twin Falls. Can you narrow it down any more than that for me, and is it fished from a boat or from the shore? Thanks

Thanks. How close is that to Blue Lakes Country Club?

3.6 miles from the golf course bridge better way to get there is go down the yingst rd down the grade into the canyon scramble up the broke bridge or be smart (im not) and bring your own latter then just walk down and watch for a foot path that goes down to the right as you get close to the power plant. if you wanna go with someone who kind of knows the hole shoot me a PM and we'll figure out when we can go together

That would be great. Happy to take you up on the opportunity sometime. I live in Utah, so it may be awhile.
