Any reports on the edge and ice conditions at Mantua and/or Pineview? Hoping for that last outing. How long of a plank would be needed?
Thanks

Don't need a plank on Mantua yet. There were people out there today around 2:30 on the ice.

Went to Mantua, no plank needed from the boat ramp, plank needed from the Dike access point. Catching was SLOW though loads of fish looking at the bait.
Pineview, soft edges at the boat ramp, ice on the lake was fine with 9" of clear ice below the cloudy ice. Caught lots of dinks. The edges where we got on/off are soft for a longer distance than my plank would reach; water only mid lower leg deep before on solid ice, but it won't be long before it will be too difficult to access from the boat ramp.

Went down to Mantua this morning to check it out. At the dike access, you do need a plank now. Didn't do any fishing. More ice around the open water is starting to look thinner and thinner. We did find a few spots where it looked like you could get out on the ice, but my buddy and I didn't want to mess with it. No one was out there this morning either. When we left, there was a guy getting dressed in his waders to hit the open water.

Where is the open water? East side by the inlet?

Yes, the southeast side by the inlet. I figure with the temps and weather we are going to have up here this week, there will be quite a bit more. It looked like more ice was thinning. I wish I could update it more frequently, but I'm in Logan and school starts back tomorrow. Joy! Or not.
