Where is the best place to camp at CJ Strike with a RV? Are boat slips available? Thanks

I live in Utah now, but have spent ~ 20 years at CJ. how big of an RV? there used to be some spots by Black Sands.
The really isn't a developed, back into the paved spot and hook up your power/water, kind of camp ground. But there are places to pull in, run your generator and have a fantastic time. some places over by the AF marina. If you don;t mind a good gravel, washboard road, go around to Cotton Wood.
i have seen people park and camp below the DAM.

The best rule of thumb, if there is no one already there, and you can safely pull in a wide spot, you are good! Lots of wide spots with dirt road access to the lake.

wait for a few more posts, things might have changed in the last 4-5 years since i stayed there. I really love and miss CJ...

Idaho Power has been pouring some money into the campgrounds around the lake. Cottonwood is completely re-done and one of my favorties. Nice RV campsites there and a bit protected from the winds. Not sure about hookups. Haven't been since latest upgrades. They re-did the boat dock and have some very nice concrete slips that are tucked away from the elements (you just have to deal with all the shore fishermen).

The North Park campground just north of the dam is also completely re-done but as of this past weekend looks like there was still some work to do. There were RVs in there. These are nice designated RV slots, with campfire rings and concrete tables at each spot. The dock near there is also new and there are some boat slips now available. Not sure about the hookups here either.

The Cove Recreation Site is owned and maintained by the BLM but there are many RV sites there. Just not as protected. But they do provide nice picnic table shelters at each spot. There is also a nice little cove nearby with some boat docks but you would need to launch over at Black Sands.

Google CJ Strike and you will find some info on the upgrades and current work.

If you need an RV hookup, the dam is probably your best bet. It's also protected from the prevailing winds, which can get rather rough.

Cottonwood is the only campground I know of on CJ that has slips. A long jetty with a canal and a small pool area about an acre that protects the boats from the wind.

You don't even have to launch your boat, though. The pool and canal have incredible crappie fishing in late spring. I went there for the first time in mid-April last year, and caught (and released) over 70 crappies in about three hours standing on shore and casting a 1/16th oz Roadrunner. The fishing was awesome, and stayed awesome right up through mid-July when they finished spawning.

Considering reports of how well people are doing on crappies in boats right now, it's looking like another crappie year is shaping up.

Does north park have drinking water, if not where is the closest drinking water on the way to north park?
I found a great link for information on the campgrounds. Seems to be very up to date as of february this year. here is the link, if anything is different, it would be cool to post updates. I think i answered my own question.

Sticker??? DMV told me they changed all that this year??? And that the envasive specisis cost was included in your registration...no additional sticker.

Can anyone confirm or deny??

Thanks.

That is correct , if your boat is registered in Idaho the sticker was included in the registration price. If someone is coming from another state they need to buy a sticker before launching . Curt G.
