Not sure if it is true or im getting smoke blown up my a$$. I heard that the ice off has begun at Rockport. Can anyone confirm this?

Not sure about rockport but was supprised to see some guys on the upper end of Echo res. saturday with all the open water on the upper end where the river runs in and lots of water around the edges.
So it might be showing some open water around the edges. Maybe take a ride up and see what you can see but dont forget your fishing rod

I know that the fish report on Roughin' It last weekend said that ice off on Rockport would be within a couple of days.

Was there mon. It has opened up where the river runs in ,but the rest is still iced up --Probably at least a week or two before edges are open enough to fish. It has been cold up here at night .Hope this helps !!!
