COLUMBIA, S.C. - At the ripe age of 19, Berkley pro angler Bradley Roy is encountering many firsts these days. He is not only the youngest angler to ever fish the Elite Series, but he is now capturing this and many other firsts on his ESPN video blog. Titled "Bradley Roy's Reel Life," the Vlog features the Lancaster, Kentucky, native as he journeys through his highs and lows on the tournament trail as a BASS Elite Series rookie.
"It is very exciting to be part of the history of BASS," said Roy. "I expect it to be difficult. I understand I am facing some giants this season, but I really want fans of bass fishing to have a quick glimpse into the life of an Elite Series rookie. It is tough out there and a learning process as well."
ESPN Bassmaster.com will host the vlog, which is set to air March 24, 2010.
Roy has proven to be a force in BASS competitions. At age 13, he was the 2004 Bassmaster Junior World champion in the 11-14 age group. As a seventeen year old he outperformed many other Kentuckians to earn the right to be the sole representative of his state in the 2008 BASS Federation Nation Championship. In 2009, Roy qualified for the 2010 Bassmaster Elite Series through the BASS Southern Open Series.
Now, after the two BASS Elite tournament swing through California the young Roy leads the race for Rookie of the Year.
