I set out with both ice fishing and standard tackle to check out the close places.

Thought I would give a heads up on what I saw, so you can plan your weekend.

This is all drive by, so don't know thickness of ice, etc..

Echo doesn't have fishable open water.

Rockport doesn't have fishable open water, unless you want to try the few feet of open water on some edges. There is some open water on the inlet end, and of course the Weber coming in.

Deer Creek has fishable open water North of the Island all the way back to the bridge on the inlet. There were a few fishermen pulled off the highway just South of the turnoff for Midway. There were a few guys fishing at the bridge as I drove to Midway. I wimped out on fishing because of the wind. Brave souls.

For the stream fishermen, the Provo river, on the drive back through Midway and to Highway 40, was running just right, and there were a few cars parked at the pullouts.

Jordanelle has a lot of open water at the dam and back North, but just short of the PWC launch. So that shorline is still iced in. You could possibly get to some open water in the Rockcliff area.

Oh, there were no people on the ice at any place that I could see.

Hope this helps. Good Luck!

I will add Starvation & Strawberry to the list of drive by's.

Last Saturday, there was no visible open water on Starvation. Some edges looked to be weakening, but still capped. This weak I am sure created little to no change. I would assume you could walk on the ice. Didn't drive into Bunny Gulch or Indian... there is a chance Indian could have some open water.

Strawberry.. still ROCK SOLID ice (typically, end of March is no-where near soon enough for Strawberry to even show signs of weakening ice).. will be for quite some time I'm sure. Most places, you can't even tell where the land ends and the lake starts. Probably close to 3' of ice there now.
