Been hitting my usual spring walleye hole the past few days. Between fishing and BS-ing with a bottle of VO and some of the regulars I met there last year, I have only gotten what I think are walleye bites. I have caught a couple nice browns though in the process.
Each day brought with it about 200 yards of open water last weekend. I would give the whole lake a couple more weeks with the current snow and cold.

You might try later in the day/evening - I've done better after the sun has gotten low in the sky and even caught a few on Rapala's.

HECK YEA!! I will fish with ya on your boat. And no, I have not gotten out on the drifter yet. Its still in hibernation, but I cant say that I was not temped to go pull it out.
The ice is pulling away quick and I could see myself fishing on a small boat or that drifter next time I go out. But I always did just fine from the bank last year early season. I never checked the main boat ramps so I cant say when they will open up but I dont think it will take too long. The ice in Saleratus wash is looking very rotten.
Glad you got your new motor, maybe you should check it out at Utah lake first to make sure you all set before you drag it all the way out to the basin. Or even DC. If you need some company just let me know. I bet we could get into some fish.[fishon]
