I haven't fished Lamont yet, but I have a question for those of you who do. Is it always a different color or muddy?
I have noticed on Google earth it is a different color than the rest of the Preston area waters.
Is it shallow?
Where does the water come from? Straight off of a spud field?
Does it affect the fishing?

Lamonts water is very clear. You can see the bottom out to about fifteen feet. I have really never seen it muddy. Not sure of where the water comes from, but i'm pretty sure that it isn't from a spud field, since there are very few spuds grown in Franklin county and the closest is at least ten miles away.

It has a really turquoise blue color to it, but very clear. There are some good sized gills as well as tons of smaller bass with a few larger ones as well as some perch and rainbows. There are also tiger musky, but I don't think they're super common. I've only seen one in maybe 4 trips there. It's actually fairly deep, it drops off pretty quickly from the bank. I've never strayed too far from shore, so I don't know just how deep it gets.

That sounds more encouraging that it is not muddy. I was thrown off by the unusual color in Google Earth. Strange that it is that color and so different from all the others. It is on my bucket list for this spring.

i have caught some great trout and bass out of there. over by the inlet. there are some tiger musky in there. but i dont know that many ppl target them.

It has always been clear when I have been there. It does drop down to almost 50' deep by the dam. There are small LMB, Perch, BG, Rainbows, Tiger Musky and a few Crappie in there. Tried ice fishing it this year and did not do so well. The side where the water comes in is fairly shallow, but if you want to catch some LMB in the 10-12" range all day, that is the place. The Perch and BG size seems to go up and down. Last year they were around 8" on the perch and 6" on the BG.

me. Lamont is such an unusual turquoise blue and it is that way in the satellite pictures for other years. Glendale you can see the effects of the ski squadron on the dam half of the lake. So I wondered if Lamont's water was from a cloudy source.
Sounds like it isn't, and that it is a good place to try for some small panfish and maybe a tiger muskie! Doubt if I could keep one of those on if I did run into one. 3 weight fly rod and light tippit are ok for bluegills and not too much beyond.
