FOD will probably jump on here and help you out, he usually keeps everyone up on fishing and conditions there.

I drove over the bridge last Thursday. All of the edges I could see from the highway had pulled back 10 - 15 feet, but the ice in the middle still looked fairly substantial. I'm sure a couple of good wind storms will start to stack up the ice on the down wind side and allow the waves to eat at the open side more effectively. Probably won't be long with this current storm track that is over us.

Ice is going fast in saleratus wash. I was out there last week for a few days and figure it will only last about a week or so. I could have launched a small boat from shore back there and fished in the LARGE piece of open water, or a float tube. For my last report look for this post,
Its still too early... rotting ice at starvy
There is a picture with a fish, but you can see the open water in the background. Hope this helps.[fishon]
EDIT: By the way the ice where the birds are standing was long gone the next day. Probably about 400 more yards of open water when I left.

Sounds kind of "iffy" doesn't it? What are you going to do?

Just got back from doing a drive-by at Starv. A lot of ice was taken off the last couple of days with the w___ we have been having. Today it is calm and nice. There are substantial/boatable and fishable areas of open water in Indian Bay. Another large piece of open water from the main boat ramp around and across the dam, large area midway between the dam and Saluratus and then a very large area of open water at the Knight Hollow end. From what I could see from Indian Bay, Rabbit Gulch appeared to still have a sheet of ice covering it.
The lake is full and spilling. The Water Conservancy District must not be expecting much of a run-off.
Another week and Starv should be wide open.
