If your looking for a new spot to fish check out Alamo Lake, AZ. If you don't mind a dirt road about 3 hours away, if staying on paved 4.25 hrs. Good fishing for Bass, Crappie, Catfish and Bluegill.

That is the best kept secret in Az. we fish it about 4-5 times a year. This the lake I got the 11lbs cat and the 7lbs LM Bass on the same day. Pumpkinseed power worms, Strik King white spinnerbaits and Bomber-A crankbaits (or bandit crank) and tree-pulling braid is all you need.
Great post, brings back memories.

Looks like you had yourself a nice trip!
Something tells me I'll be buying an AZ and UT non-resident license...

Wheres the picture of the fat cat? What time of day did you catch the cat? That place looks like a nice spot.

I will see if a digital copy is around, may have to scan the hard copy. From late February till early July is prime bass and cat time. First light till about 9ish then they go deep. Around 4:30 pm they come back shallow, sometimes into two foot of water.
I have waded out into 3ft of water and cast to the brush a few feet away and caught fish. Catfish love worms and shrimp at Alamo.
To answer your question around 9:00 am, after two other guys claim to have lost it the night before. 2/0 circle hook and 20# braid leader w/shrimp. Funny thing was, when we cleaned the fish there were two hooks with 15# mono in her stomach.

Per you request, here are some pics. Had to do it with a scanner. I think this was may 2007.

Do you know how to get there? I have the directions for both dirt and paved roads. It's a long read and to some a secret way to save time and money on gas.
So here ya go...........
From NV just before Wickenburg turn right (west) at mile marker #278, there is a stop sign and a cattle guard.
The road forks a few times, stay to the left the whole way.
Take it easy for the first 15 miles the last 15 you can go faster until you get to wayside inn (5 MPH).
Go 3 miles to the water, the last fork turn left (off the main road) Follow a path/road down to the dirt launch ramp.
If this is your first trip, get out of the truck and walk an exploratory pathway to see where & how to get to around.
OR
Keep driving to Wickenburg, go thru two round-abouts. When you get into town turn right. Drive thru Agilla to Wendon, you will see the sign to turn right. (Alamo State Park)
This road will take north to the lake and a paved launch ramp (cholla) and the dam.
There is a dirt road that will take farther north to the Wayside inn as well.
If you have a boat you really need to fish the “Jungle”. This is where the Bill Williams and Sandy rivers meet and continue upstream to flooded cottonwood trees and timber.

Don't know what the closure means on the link, will have to find out.

Either they plan to barricade it from public access or just shut down what ever facilities there are.
