I have been on a terrible losing streak this year with my fishing. I had been out 8 times and had been skunked 8 times. 0-8 does not feel good. I started 0-7 last year. I don't know why I start every fishing season on a losing streak, but I finally broke that streak yesterday afternoon. I've been fishing Utah Lake a lot and having no success, so me and a buddy went up to Deer Creek to try our luck there. We fished where the river flows into Deer Creek (just off the road heading to Midway). I threw out some power bait and it didn't take long to start getting bites. Its about time the fish found me this year! I caught 5 pretty standard rainbows. My biggest was 14" and the rest were between 10-12" My buddy also landed 5 fish, so it was a good day all around.

Most of the ice is gone. There was one boat out on the water toward the Heber side of the lake. The only ice I saw was by the dam on the provo side.

oK Stubbs65, I am thinking about going out to Utah Lake this friday and target some crappie, bluegill & largemouth bass, you are invited to come along for the ride. I am going to be putting my boat in the water at Pelican Bay. If those fish are not in the mood to play then we will head to another spot and try for the elusive Walleye.... Are you up for the challenge this friday morning??? Could be a all day thing if they are biting or back off the water around 1.
