I had never heard of this type of bass. I didn't think this was real, but it turns our Goliath Bass are real.

My wife watched this video and was more concerned about the dude injuring his junk than the size of the fish.

Yeah, what a monster. Goliath Atlantic Grouper are usually called Jewfish. They can get to 800 pounds. I remember years ago when a guy caught one off a pier in Florida on rather light line. He fought the fish for so long, that TV crews and a huge crowd gathered. After more than 24 hours of fighting the fish, he nearly collapsed and had to turn his pole over to another person. The fish weighed in at over 500 pounds. Mike

I've caught one of those in Florida, biggest fight I ever went through though my back was going to fall off. In the end awesome experience. The power with these fish is amazing.

I've seen them on fishing shows before, but that one is the best fight I've ever seen w/ one! Would love to hook into one.... about 1/2 to 2/3 that size though[blush]

When I was a little kid I saw a guy with two of them he caught on a jetty in south Texas. Back then they were jewfish, I think the PC crowd had the name changed. Anyway, he put one in a wheelbarrow and it filled it. The handles were bowing while he got it to his pickup. It took a bunch of guys to load them.
