Wanted to try out a tripod rod holder I bought off ebay, and seeing as how today was the first nice day we've had in awhile, I decided it would be criminal not to devote the last few hours of daylight to fishing.

Didn't want to drive that far, so I went to Parkcenter Park. It's been stocked recently, and the trout were jumping everywhere. Put one pole out for catfish with liver on it, and decided to fish for trout for fun with the other.

Messed around with a worm and a bobber for awhile with nothing to show aside from a few nibbles. Then I switched to bottom fishing, and that was the ticket. They just couldn't resist a juicy baby crawler injected with air, floated about a foot off bottom. Sometimes I'd get a bite within seconds of the sinker hitting the bottom.

Caught five between 10" and 12" within the span of about 45 minutes before it got too dark. Released all but two that were bleeders.

If you live in Boise and want to take your kids out to have some fun and don't want to drive too far, it's definitely worth checking out.

Sounds like a good time. Any luck on stocking up on trash fish for bait. I have been keeping up with your other post and tried Robie and the red bridge today. didnt come up with much. . how bout you? (using them as bear bait).

Haven't really gotten a chance to focus on the trash fish yet. Got a couple of small squaws last time I was at CJ, but nothing near Boise.

Finally went to the right bridge on the Boise River yesterday, but the water was very green. Probably from snowmelt and all that rain we had. Couldn't see a damn thing in the hole, even when the sun was shining. I did see bubbles and clouds of stuff stirred up from the bottom, so I'm sure they're in there.

Way to go! Amazing how much good fishing is available within the Boise City limits. And rarely a crowd! Mike

I was amazed at how much was available in Boise when I was there at the first of February. We were all under snow and ice here in Southeast Idaho and in Boise I was able to fish all kinds of open water. Some really nice lakes and ponds, not to mention the river, there to wile-away your lunch hour.

I must have just missed you at the bridge yesterday. I was there twice. Didn't see a dang thing. .. I figured the spring run off was mucking things up a bit. I think its time to take out the bow below cj strike.

Let me know how many you want. I am currently living about 5 min from the red bridge and can go down there anytime. I can just freeze em and we could arrange a pickup via pm if you would like

Thanks for the offer but i also live about 5 min from the bridge (on the edge of ann morrison) but i found an awesome spot for trash fish. I will post pictures when i can. i caught 20 suckers in 4 hours with a total of 42lbs (could have caught more but they werent biting hard). i think that should do for the first few installations of bear bait.
