Most of the posts about fishing around Moab are kinda old, so I thought I'd ask about the lake itself. We're hitting Moab Thurs-Sunday, and I might just hit the big river for catfish, but I'm also wondering if there will be cold run-off.
So, is Ken's Lake a decent place to take a kid for some trout/bluegill/LMB from the shore? Anybody know about the forage base, type of Lake, terrain, etc?
Thanks, Guys...

One of my fond memories of fishing as a kid was at Kens. Its a great place for kids. We didnt even all have fishing poles. One of the other scouts did have a fishing rod and he lent us some line. We had a blast hand lining blue gills in and the kid with the rod caught some bass. I went back last summer with my wife and walked the same shore line and saw lots of gills.
There is parking along the South side and the West shoreline has lots of rip rap with gills and sunnies under the rocks. Go do it and take some pics!

Trout fishing is usually good this time of year and again late in the fall.

Well, I didn't wet a line. For some reason my wife, who is almost phobic of hiking, literally, decided that this was the trip she wanted to actually get out of the car and walk around, so we spent the whole time in Arches doing short hikes with the kids and cousins. It was a good time, but no fishing reports.....
