I am in the process of adopting a fishing partner. So I took the day off of work and we went out and bought a new Disney Princess pole and some gear. We headed to the Roy pond for some bonding time. It was a great day at the pond. The fish stocking truck had just pulled away when we arrived. We set up shop and started getting hits right away. The first fish of the day was a small Rainbow that I set the hook on and let Jensie real it in. She was so excited and so was I.

The next fish was one of the 22 inch Rainbows they just put in. I set the hook again and handed off the pole. Jensie did a great job again but kinda got scared when she saw the size of this fish. She asked for some help reeling it in the last little bit. She would not hold this fish up so I tried to do it for her and take a picture.

The third fish was the prize of the day. I helped Jensie cast out the Princess pole and she sat down on the bank. I handed her the pole and turned around to get my pole ready. I turned back and she had a fish pulling on the line. She started to reel it in and I could see it was another nice fish. She was able to reel it all the way to the bank without any help at all. I picked it up out of the water for her and she was grinning ear to ear. I think I have a fishing partner for life!!!

That is awesome. I have a three year old that I take out. She still remembers her 6 inch bluegill she caught last summer and talks about it like she just pulled it out this morning. A great way to bond for sure.

That is great way to get them started early, I remember few trips with my Dad when I very small, some of my best memories. Nicely done, think I need to start hitting the ponds and forget Deer Creek.

EXACTLY why I volunteer as a fishing coach at that very pond. What a great feeling seeing a kid catch a fish or two.

Your a great dad for getting the young ones involved in a great sport/passion.

Its grait to hear that people still try and get folks ,Kids. to go fishing. I truely believe that you teach your kids to fish you teach them what real FUN !!!!! is. I hope to get my new WEBELO scouts hooked on it. Also gives me a reason to go fishing more. not to be on a soap box , but ket your kids hooked on fishing, then they will never get hooked on drugs ect. Joe
