I went out to Newton yesterday (Friday). The water was 42 degrees. I launched my boat at about 2:00-2:30 and headed for some of the brushy areas on the west side. The water level is pretty high right now. I started out using a texas rigged curly tail worm, then switched to a tube jig, then went to a green curly tail grub. I didn't get any bites. I marked a big fish at about 26 feet of water near the dam, so I set up my downrigger with a jointed perch pattern and trolled for a half an hour or so. I wasn't really expecting to catch anything this early, and the weather was beautiful, so I still consider it a good day of fishing.
