Took the pontoon out this year for the first time. I must say that the trip didn't disappoint. Headed down to Mantua (from Logan) just for a couple of hours to see if I could catch a few fish. Well, I caught a few - and a whole lot more. The trout were very hungry for the gold spinner I was throwing them tonight. I stayed in one spot the whole time and just had hit after hit after hit. I lost at least 15. (I was trying to keep count of everything that happened to report back to my dad in Mountain Home, Arkansas. I landed 21 trout. The largest I kept was 16 1/2 inches. I lost one that was definitely bigger than that. She jumped out of the water about 10 feet out and spit out the spinner. I caught the 21st fish on my 7' 4wt fly rod. It was a fun little fight. Anyways, just wanted to share the fun I had.

So is the lake all ice free now? I would like to get up there but not until it is free of ice.

With your dad living near the White River, I'm sure he's got some impressive trout fishing stories to tell too. Good job.[

We have a lot of fun stories, but nothing about gigantic fish. I grew up in South Alabama and vacationed up in Arkansas. Then we moved there. He lives 2 miles from the river and guides part time. I go back for 2-3 weeks every May. It's a blast, I have to say. Here's a few pics from some of his guid trips. The last one is me about 5 years ago.
