[shocked] Went for a ride to East Canyon today to check how much ice is left on the lake. My wife had the idea so what the heck. Pulled into the state park and noticed some folks wetting a hook in what little open water there was in the marina. After talking with a few of them we went for the rods. My wife caught the first one right away in came in at 14 inches. I landed the second one it was 14 inches also. The next one I hooked came in at 15 inches. And right before we packed up Kathy caught the last one at 13 inches. What a great time and a surprise.

This is the best time to fish east canyon. You throw your bait or lure onto the ice pull it off the ice and catch fish one after another.

Sorry about no info on the ice was excited about the fishing. About 85% of the lake has ice the so. end you can put a tube or toon on and have a good time a few weeks away from boating action.

Good report. I've been waiting for the ice report from EC. I usually test drive the boat to get all the kinks out prio to hauling it to the gorge for the season. Couldn't wait much longer so went to the gorge last weekend anyway on someone elses boat. Boated on mac 22lb. But that was it for the weekend.

[cool]Went out on another scouting trip, this time up to Lost Creek. Lots of ice still, some open water around the inlet but really muddy. Didn't wet a hook there jumped over to East Canyon, Taylor's hollow enough ice off the edges to wet a hook. Landed a few slimmers kept one about 15 inches to go with the others we caught on sunday. Would of stayed out longer but the iceberg moved in and cut off the hot spot. Was a great day little to no breeze.
