I grew up in Mona, and I used to swim and fish at Burstons all the time. I haven't fished there in years, but I remember it used to be pretty fast action for planter trout. The DWR website says that Burstons was just stocked and is fishing hot right now. Me and a buddy would like to take our wives out for some easy fishing. Has anyone fished Burston ponds at all this year? If so, is the action good enough to keep two "not-very-interested-in-fishing" wives entertained? Thanks.

My cousin went their last week. He was using worms and only caught one. But he told me he could see them swimming all over in the pond. Maybe a change of bait would have worked better.

We will probably just use power bait or lures. Hopefully the bite will be good this weekend.

I was down there a few weeks ago with my scout troop. I was tow busy with the scouts to try and fish to much, but I did throw a Jakes Spin a lure a few times and caught a few.

I was actually there on Sunday 4/11 and didn't catch anything. I had quite a few small bites on worms/powerbait but no hookups. I threw a couple of lures to no avail either. My friend tried fly-fishing and nada. It was very windy and not too many people. I did talk to some other anglers and there was maybe 5 total caught between the 7 people I talked to.

I had work off last night, so me and my buddy actually headed down to mona last night and gave Burston ponds a test run. It wasn't too bad. The fish are tiny. We each caught two fish. I caught a tiny 8 inch rainbow and a 12 inch bow. My buddy caught an 8 inch minnow as well, but he landed a decent 14 inch rainbow. (no doubt, a hold-over from last year) The action was really fast, but we couldn't land most of the bites. Every time we cast any flavor of power bait, we would get a bite within five minutes. The line would go tight and then go slack, and the bait was always gone after that. I actually had 3 on the line that spit the bait about half way in. I'm not sure how they were getting the bait and slipping the hook, but it was pretty fun any way. I think the wives will have fun with it. Just out of curiosity, is there any other spot like Burston ponds that any one knows of with easy trout fishing?

You can also go up to Highland Glen Park which is up behind Lone Peak High School. They plant it will rainbows and channel cats. There are also some bass, mud cats, and sunfish in there as well. You can catch just about anything there with a worm under a bobber and the trout take powerbait and bread dough as well. Fishing can be really easy there. Go over by the docks and you can see the fish swimming around. I've caught some nice channel cats out of there and the stocking report says they recently planted some albino trout. Its not as big as burraston ponds and is a little cleaner with grass on one side of it and sand or pavement around the rest. Its where I take my nephews because if all else fails, just put on a little piece of a worm on a small hook under a bobber and fish for the little bluegills/sunfish around the docks and shrubbery. You can catch a ton but they are only about the length of your finger.

Good Luck!
